Custom Manufacturing of Book Sewing Machine for the Textbook Manufacturing Industry

A textbook manufacturer contacted Numerical Concepts to custom manufacture a SMC Side Sewer book sewing machine. The aluminum, stainless steel and steel machine was based on our industry leading engineering analysis and was designed using CAD drawings and models. The manufacturing and assembly process featured: turning (CNC & manual), vertical and horizontal milling (CNC & manual), cutting (flame & water jet), welding (TIG & MIG), shearing, bending and mechanical and electrical assembly. The machine, which featured a driven upper and lower drill assembly, hopper feeders, a factory pre-wired DC motor and automatic double thread cutter and pressurized lubrication systems, had a maximum speed of 290, 1 ¼" stitches per minute. Numerical Concepts manufactured and delivered up to 4 of the 6,000 lbs side sewers in 5-7 months.
